NALMS is accepting applications for two summer 2021 internship opportunities:

NALMS Policy Internship

The intern will work with the NALMS Policy and Communications Committees to support the process of writing white papers and developing policy recommendations regarding the following topics:

  1. Climate Change Impacts on Lake Ecosystems,
  2. Lake Watershed Management,
  3. Cyanobacteria Management, and
  4. Urban Lake Management.

An integral component of the internship will be taking the lead in writing a white paper and developing policy recommendations regarding one of the topics listed above or a new topic agreed upon by the intern and their supervisor.

Community-based Lake Science and Monitoring Intern

This is a two-pronged internship experience, in collaboration with the Kentucky Division of Water (KDOW) and the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS).

The successful candidate will work with partners in Kentucky to expand community-based monitoring of water quality and quantity, including expansion of the Kentucky Volunteer Lakes Monitoring Program (KY-VLMP). In addition, the intern will collaborate with NALMS to coordinate data collection, assessment, and analysis for the international Secchi Dip-In Program (www.secchidipin.org).
