NALMS Symposia

Held each fall, NALMS’ premier event is our International Symposium where members and other lake management professionals come together for a collection of oral and poster technical presentations, hands-on workshops, field trips and non-stop discussions on managing lakes and reservoirs.

Attendees are also treated to our exhibition hall where vendors display the latest lake-management tools. The symposium offers excellent opportunities for networking and lifelong professional associations are often forged at the NALMS symposium.

Student Travel Grants

NALMS awards a limited number of travel grants to student presenters at the annual symposium. You may apply if you are enrolled at a college or university seeking either a Master’s degree or Ph.D., or the equivalent for foreign students. Visit our student programs page to learn more about student travel grants and other opportunities for students in NALMS.

Interested in Hosting the Symposium?

NALMS’ symposia are held in many locations in the US and Canada, and we depend on the help of local host committees to put on this annual event. Host committees help organize the program and provide local flavor to the symposium through special sessions on topics of local interest, field trips exploring local lakes and reservoirs and their management issues and social events highlighting the host city. If your organization is interested in hosting a future NALMS symposium, please fill out the proposal form below and send it to events@nalms.org.
