Ahh summer – time to love our lakes or as we do at NALMS – celebrate Lakes Appreciation Month and collect and submit our annual Secchi Dip-In reading! Lakes Appreciation Month preparations are in full swing with 14 states (as of this writing) proclaiming July is Lakes Appreciation Month. NALMS is seeking candidates that will add diversity and breadth to the Board and its committees.
You could become a nominee for a position on the NALMS Board of Directors, to take a more active role in steering the direction of activities that relate to these precious resources. Experience or training in lake management is not required for a board position, and we encourage candidates with expertise in nonprofit management, leadership development, marketing, fundraising, legal issues and membership growth and development to consider running for a Board position.

You’re invited to celebrate Lakes Appreciation Month in July by participating in the 2019 Secchi Dip-In! This year marks the 26th anniversary of the Dip-In and the 154th anniversary of the first use of the Secchi disk by Father Pietro Angelo Secchi.

Jody Connor Student Awards – 2018
The poster session at the 2018 Symposium was held on Halloween.
Each year NALMS presents student awards to the best student presentation and best student poster at the annual NALMS symposium. The awards are sponsored by SOLitude Lake Management. The NALMS Board renamed the student award as the Jody Connor Student Award in memory of Jody Connor, a long-time friend of NALMS who was active on the Education Committee and participated in the reviews of student presentations and posters.
The first-place winner receives a check for $200 and a plaque. Honorable mention or second place winners receive a plaque. The Student Awards ...
NALMS Seeks Editor-in-Chief for Lake and Reservoir Management
The Board of Directors of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) seeks letters of interest from individuals wishing to serve as the next Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the society’s peer-reviewed publication, Lake and Reservoir Management (LRM).
LRM publishes original,previously-unpublished studies relevant to lake and reservoir management. LRM addresses the management of lakes and reservoirs, their watersheds and tributaries, along with the limnological and ecological analyses needed for the sound management of such systems.
