The 2021 election for officers and directors is underway. Voting in the annual election is an important way for NALMS members to provide input in the management of the Society. NALMS is accepting applications for two internship opportunities: NALMS Policy Internship The intern will work with the NALMS Policy and Communications Committees to support the process of writing white papers and developing policy recommendations regarding the following topics: Climate Change Impacts on Lake Ecosystems, Lake Watershed Management, Cyanobacteria Management, and Urban Lake Management. Reckhow Scholarship Fund. LaBounty Best Paper Award Nominated Papers Available Through Open Access

The papers nominated for the Jim LaBounty Best Paper Award in 2020 will be available through open access through the end of March. Normally papers published in the last 3 years are only available by subscription, but as a tribute to the quality of research and importance to the lake management community, these papers are being made freely available for a limited time. 2020 Secchi Dip-In Update

With support from a USEPA Exchange Network grant, NALMS partnered with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Gold Systems, and Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies to upgrade the Secchi Dip-In database using the Ambient Water Quality Monitoring System (AWQMS) and Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) Lake Observer mobile app. These existing data entry and database management tools have been customized for Dip-In use and to make data publicly available through the AWQMS database, USEPA’s Water Quality Exchange (WQX), and the Water Quality Portal (WQP), a water quality data clearinghouse.
