Many safety concerns face limnologists, volunteers, and residents on and around lakes. Throughout the years, water safety has been prominent in news stories: the story of a drowning death of a young man when he and a friend were “play fighting” on a rental boat dock after a day on the water; and the trial of a young man whose speed boat crashed into a fishing boat, resulting in the deaths of two people on the fishing boat. Water safety is an important topic to address, and the articles within this issue tackle it deftly.
