NALMS Celebrates 40th Birthday

Thank you for helping us get here …
it’s NALMS 40th birthday!

On this day 40 years ago (October 9, 1980), NALMS was founded in Portland, Maine as an organization with membership open to both professionals and citizens interested in applied lake management, while other organizations focused on either one or the other. This unique niche is reflected in our mission: to forge partnerships among citizens, scientists, and professionals to foster the management and protection of lakes and reservoirs … for today and tomorrow.

While it’s an unusual year to be celebrating, we still want to take a moment to express our gratitude to our members, those new, those who have been with us for years, and those there at the start, as well as our partners, supporters, conference attendees, program participants, and all of you reading this message.

Here’s to the next forty years!

A Note from NALMS President

Happy Birthday, NALMS! Thank you to our founders for your visionary work 40 years ago, and thank you to all who contribute time and expertise toward making NALMS a thriving organization. As we pass this milestone, I hope many of you will join me in contributing anew to NALMS. A donation of $40 will lower the Secchi disk another notch in our 40th birthday challenge and help to ensure we continue supporting those who protect and restore lakes across North America.
