WOTUS Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking
On June 29th, the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers (agencies) released a “Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking” to elaborate on their 2017 proposal to repeal the 2015 Rule Defining Waters of the United States.
The Association of Clean Water Administrators developed a helpful summary of the 93-page addendum.

Student Video Series: “Harmful Algal Blooms”
NALMS is seeking student-produced videos of "Harmful Algal Blooms" for inclusion in the video series hosted on the NALMS YouTube channel and website.
In addition to the basic requirements in the Video Evaluation Rubric, this video should cover:
General explanation of a HAB and relevant thresholds for human health (e.g., World Health Organization thresholds for cell and toxin concentrations)
General knowledge of conditions in which HABs occur
Research needs regarding HABs
Explain what the public should know about HABs
Explain the temporal and spatial ...

NALMS Approves Strategic Plan for 2017-2020
At the recent midterm meeting in Las Vegas, the NALMS Board of Directors voted to approve a new Strategic Plan that sets its sights on strengthening and achieving NALMS' mission, vision, values, and goals. The plan details strategic goals in regards to four crucial areas: membership, communication, the NALMS brand, and financial health.
