As part of its 2022 International Symposium, the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) will offer workshops to its attendees on Monday, November 14, 2022. These workshops are meant to be hands-on and interactive sessions involving activities, audience participation, and discussion about specific lake management-related topics.

Workshop Schedule

Presenters may choose to offer either a half-day or full-day workshop. We will also consider proposals for online workshops, which may vary in length. Online workshops will be scheduled outside of the conference week at a date and time agreeable to NALMS and the workshop organizers.

Half-day workshops include 3-½ hours of instruction time plus one ½ hour break. Morning workshops also include continental breakfast prior to the start of the workshop. Instructors may choose to include lunch with their workshop as well, but this will result in a higher registration fee for workshop attendees.

Full-day workshops include 7 hours of instruction time plus two ½ hour breaks, continental breakfast and 1-hour luncheon.

The typical workshop day schedule is as follows:

7:30 am – 8:00 am Continental Breakfast
8:00 am Full-day and morning workshops begin
10:00 am – 10:30 am Morning Break
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Full-day workshops resume, afternoon workshops begin
3:00 pm – 3:30 pm Afternoon Break
5:00 pm Workshops end

Compensation

NALMS strives to provide workshops to its participants at an affordable registration fee, typically $115 for half-day workshops and $215 for full-day workshops. Because of this, NALMS cannot guarantee a set compensation fee to workshop presenters and instead offers a share of the workshop profits. NALMS will pay the workshop coordinator 50% of the workshop’s profit after all related expenses have been deducted from the income of the workshop. Deducted expenses may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Room rental;
  2. AV equipment rental; and
  3. Breaks and meals associated with the workshop.

NALMS shall be solely responsible for identifying said expenses and determining the profit share to be paid to the presenter. NALMS will reimburse workshop presenters for the cost of producing workshop handouts upon request.

NALMS will work with workshop organizers to set an appropriate registration fee for online workshops.
