The North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) is a non-profit that has been working for lakes, reservoirs, and watersheds since 1980 … and we’ve been able to do so based solely on the loyalty and support of our members (both organizational and individual), volunteers, and staff.

Our Staff
Philip Forsberg (Executive Director)
Philip Forsberg started with NALMS as an intern in 1997 and has since held several positions at NALMS and performed many disparate tasks from graphic design to accounting to grant management to conference planning. Philip earned a BS in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from Ball State University and an MS in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin. As Executive Director, he oversees the day-to-day operation of the NALMS office as well as the overall management of NALMS’ program activities.
Alyssa Anderson (Director of Development and Marketing)
Alyssa Anderson started at NALMS in September 2016 as the Director of Marketing and Membership. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2011 with a BS in Professional Communication and has previous experience in the non-profit sector. As Director of Development and Marketing, Alyssa oversees NALMS’ marketing and membership activities, as well as provides support for conferences, publications, and programs. Oluwaseun Olubodun (Community-Based Lake Science and Monitoring Intern)
Oluwaseun Olubodun is a Ph.D. student in Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology, Miami University. She has a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, and a master’s degrees in microbiology from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also has a master’s degree in environmental science from Miami University. Oluwaseun is studying the impact of terrestrial chemicals on aquatic microbial communities. She is also working on an Ohio H2Ohio initiative grant to evaluate the interactive effects of dissolved organic matter and nutrients on cyanobacteria and their toxins. She is keenly interested in water quality issues and has collaborated closely with other colleagues on harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie. This summer, she will be working with NALMS as a community-based lake science and monitoring intern focusing on the Secchi Dip-In program. Learn more about the Dip-In!
Jennifer Udema (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Intern)
Jennifer Udema recently graduated from Miami University where she earned a master’s degree in biology with a focus on conservation. During her studies, she had the opportunity to complete field work in the Peruvian Amazon and Kenya. As a former teacher, she was already passionate about JEDI values, but studying in other countries gave her a new sense of appreciation for different perspectives on environmental issues. Jennifer has lived in Colorado her entire life and credits the state for her love of nature and wildlife. She will be working with NALMS this summer to promote lake education and outreach as an intern on the JEDI team. Learn more about the JEDI program!
