SUMMARY:Beaver Island Lake Ecology Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the ecology and conservation of Beaver Island’s lakes during this hands-on program. The program will focus on three topics: \n\nShoreline habitat\n\nLearn about the value of healthy shorelines and how to protect them.\n\n\nInvasive species\n\nLearn to identify aquatic invasive species and how to prevent their introduction.\n\n\nVolunteer monitoring\n\nLearn about Michigan’s volunteer lake monitoring program and how to get involved.\n\n\n\nPresented by Erick Elgin and Dr. Jo Latimore of Michigan State University Extension. \nThis workshop is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Those interested can meet after the workshop at Barneys Lake at 3:30 p.m. to explore the lake shoreline and vegetation on foot or by canoe or kayak. \nRegistration closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 7\, 2022. \n\n\nAccommodations\nMichigan State University is committed to providing equal opportunity for participation in all programs\, services and activities.
