July 16, 2009: The NYS Federation of Lake Associations in cooperation with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation are pleased to announce the May publication of the 2nd edition of Diet for a Small Lake - The Expanded Guide to New York State Lake and Watershed Management.
The new edition is a complete overhaul of the 1990 edition and serves as a manual to help people understand the complexities of watershed management and lake ecology. The book offers an introduction to lake ecology, descriptions of lake restoration and aquatic plant management techniques, data collection techniques including use of volunteer monitoring, a discussion of the legal framework involved in lake management issues, and guidance for preparing a watershed management plan. While the book focuses on New York State lakes, it is suitable for anyone interested in lake management.
The book can be ordered at www.nysfola.org and is available in both paperback and hardcover editions. We believe that it will be a great resource to anyone who cares about lakes.
