Description: In collaboration with the RI Department of Environmental Management Office of Water Resources, the Environmental Analyst will be responsible for completing draft nutrient criteria for Rhode Island’s freshwater lakes and ponds and advancing the development of nutrient criteria for Rhode Island’s rivers and streams, including preparing a river sampling program. Specific responsibilities include the following. • Review current EPA guidance, state of science, and neighboring state approaches on nutrient criteria for freshwaters. • Gather relevant data on lakes and ponds. • Prepare a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for use of secondary data and a data analysis plan. • Perform statistical analyses and use in development of draft lake nutrient criteria. • Prepare technical support document to summarize and explain analyses relied upon to arrive at recommended draft criteria. • Gather relevant data on rivers and streams. • Develop recommended approach for development of nutrient criteria for rivers and streams. • Develop sampling plan and QAPP for necessary monitoring in rivers and streams. • Characterize rivers and streams to support refined classification of these waterbodies for nutrient criteria development purposes. • Participate in project meetings with DEM staff and other resource persons See www.neiwpcc.org for full description.
