NALMS Individual Membership Categories

Student Membership - This level of membership is geared toward undergraduate and graduate students with a focus in the following fields: Biology, Ecology, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Geology, Geoscience, Limnology, Natural Resource Management, Phycology, Water Resources Engineering, and Wildlife Management among other areas of interest.

Lake Leader - This basic level of membership is geared toward non-professionals, non-academics, lake enthusiasts and concerned citizens. Additional Lake Leader categories include Electronic Lake Leader Membership, Emeritus Lake Leader and Non-North American Lake Leader Membership. Electronic Lake Leader members receive their membership benefits exclusively online. Emeritus Lake Leader members are individuals, over the age of 60, who have been a member of NALMS at the Lake Leader or Professional membership level for 5 years prior to retirement and have officially retired. Non-North American Lake Leader members are individuals residing outside North America.

Professional - This level of membership is geared toward technical professionals, including scientists, lake managers, regulators, and academics. Additional Professional categories include Emeritus Professional Membership and Non-North American Professional Membership. Emeritus Professional members are individuals, over the age of 60, who have been a member of NALMS at the Lake Leader or Professional membership level for 5 years prior to retirement and have officially retired. Non-North American Professional members are individuals residing outside North America.

NALMS Organizational Membership Categories

Organizational Membership categories include Corporate Membership, Nonprofit Membership and Affiliate Membership. These levels of membership are geared towards organizations with a focus in areas such as the following:

Aeration, Algae Control, Aquatic Herbicide, Circulation Technology, Dissolved Oxygen Supplementation, Dredging, Energy Production, Environmental Analysis, Environmental Consulting, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Products, Erosion Control, Hyrdoacoustics, Immunochemistry Products, Invasive Species Control, Lake Restoration, Lake Management, Municipal Water Equipment, Phosphorus Removal, Remote Sensing, Stormwater Treatment, Wastewater Industries, Surface Water Management, Water Conservation, Water Instrumentation, Water Monitoring, Water Resource Management, and Water Utility Industries among many other related fields.

Corporate
 - Our premium organizational category, membership at this level is geared towards organizations specializing in one or more of the fields listed above.

Nonprofit Organizations - This category is offered to not-for-profit organizations that feel they cannot participate at the corporate level.

Affiliate - This category is offered to organizations with missions similar to that of NALMS who are willing to partner on events and/or projects. Please refer to the document "How to Become A NALMS Affiliate," and contact the NALMS Office for more information on joining at this level.
